- Get back into routine. If you’ve gotten off schedule, start helping your child go to bed earlier now. Make your child gets at least a full eight hours of sleep before each school day so they will be well rested and ready to learn.
- Set expectations with your child. Explain to them how important education is in their life now and how impactful it will be in the future. You are your child’s first and best advocate. If you are excited about school and their education, chances are they will be too.
- Meet your child’s teacher. Bassetti’s Meet the Teacher Night is August 24 from 5-6 p.m. This is a great opportunity for you and your children to talk with your teacher and get familiarized with their classrooms. A Kona Ice snow cone truck will be on campus for this event!
- Plan to be involved. We have some excited family events in the works for this fall. We’ll be sending out requests for volunteers once school gets underway. Look for our Parent Lighthouse team tale at Meet the Teacher.
Lastly, get to know your child’s school counselor! School counselors make a measurable impact in every student’s life, assisting with academic, career and personal/social development. When you need information or assistance, I can help you get in touch with the appropriate school officials; learn about school policies on behavior, attendance, and dress; and stay connected with the school in many other ways. I can also help you locate resources in the community when you need them and get information on programs that can benefit your child. School counselors provide services not only to students in need, but to all students. If your child is having a problem at school, I will work with you to find solutions. In short, I am here for your child! Use me! I may not have all the answers, but I will help you find them.
I look forward to seeing you all later this month!
