At the end of the month, grades 4 and 5 students will take the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR). On March 29, 5th grade students will take the math STAAR and 4th grade students will take the writing STAAR. On March 30, 5th grade students will take the reading STAAR. This is an important year for 5th graders. The Texas Student Success Initiative (SSI) requires that 5th grade students pass both the reading and math STAAR test before they promote to 6th grade.
